Antique Procter & Gamble P&G Moon Stars Wooden Advertising Crate Box
N/A
Authentic old Procter & Gamble wooden advertising/shipping crate featuring P&G’s historic Moon & Stars Trade Mark. A fantastic piece of early American advertising and general-store history with wonderful original character and patina. The front features the distinctive circular PROCTER & GAMBLE TRADE MARK with the famous Man in the Moon surrounded by stars. P&G’s Moon & Stars imagery traces its origins to markings used on the company’s shipping cases in the 19th century; the Moon & Stars trademark was formally registered in 1882. Constructed of wood with galvanized metal reinforcement along the corners/edges and visible period-style fasteners. The aged wood, metal, surface wear and construction give this box tremendous authentic primitive character. This piece was acquired from an old barn and is not being represented as a modern decorative reproduction. Because no manufacturing date is stamped on the portion of the box shown, I am conservatively listing the exact production date as unknown rather than assigning an unsupported decade. A terrific collectible for an antique advertising, Procter & Gamble, Americana, country store, primitive or general-store collection. It also makes an exceptional decorative storage piece for a farmhouse kitchen, pantry, laundry room, mudroom or vintage-inspired interior.
