Vintage Farrington Green Velvet Jewelry Organizer Box with Gold Trim - 1950s

Known for their durable faux-leather coverings, brass-tone metal trims, and plush satin or velvet interiors, Farrington boxes became a mid-century staple across the U.S.   The company started in the early 1920s in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts.  During the 1940s and 1950s, Farrington marketed pieces from the post-war era featured pastel or jewel-toned exteriors (cream, teal, red, navy, and caramel) accented with gold-gilt tooling, floral silk prints on the inner lids, and tarnish-proof rayon velvet bottom linings.  Condition: vintage good.
