Description
Antique porcelain butter pat, most likely produced by Haviland & Co. Limoges or a similar French porcelain manufacturer. Butter pats are small, shallow individual dishes typically measuring around 3 inches in diameter. They were widely used during the Victorian and Edwardian eras to serve a single portion (or pat) of butter to each diner. This specific piece features a classic scalloped, embossed rim paired with a delicate transfer-ware pattern of blue forget-me-nots or similar light blue floral sprays, a style heavily popularized by Haviland in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, collectors often use these versatile little plates as decorative accents, ring dishes, or small trinket trays
