This is a wooden taiko reel made by Okuraya Fishing Tackle Shop.
The wood used is Karelian cherry, with a very bright color.
While wooden taiko reels are typically made with a stainless steel stand, this reel is specially equipped with a Fuji Kogyo FPR-25 stand, allowing the spool to be detached with a single touch using the lever on the back.
According to the owner of Okuraya, he repurposed some FPR-25 stands he had collected when they were discontinued.
This is a highly specialized, niche item.
Unlike aluminum reels, this is not designed for pursuit of rotational performance but rather for enjoying the fishing experience when paired with traditional Japanese rods (washo).
Nevertheless, with three ball bearings, it offers exceptionally smooth rotation and is fully capable for modern drop-shot fishing.
