Ihai (Memorial Tablet) 3.5寸. Height 17.3 cm, Width 9 cm, Base Height 10.8 cm

Ihai are Buddhist ritual objects used to enshrine and honor the spirits of the deceased. They are considered important for ancestor veneration.
The Buddhist name (kaimyo) is inscribed on the front of the ihai.
Even without a kaimyo, you can create an ihai with a secular name (zokumyo) by adding 之霊位 (noirei) after the name. This is considered to have the same meaning as receiving a kaimyo.

If you wish to have the kaimyo and other details handwritten, we will do so free of charge. Please refer to the last image for an example.
After your purchase, please provide the kaimyo you wish to have handwritten, the posthumous title (e.g., Koji for men, Daishi for women), the date of death, your secular name (full name), and the age at death. We will then handwrite these details for you free of charge. Of course, you are also welcome to purchase the ihai alone.

We will also handwrite the date of death, secular name (full name), and age at death free of charge.

In the Kanto region, the kaimyo and date of death are inscribed on the front of the ihai, and the secular name and age at death are inscribed on the back.

In the Tokai and western Japan regions, only the kaimyo is inscribed on the front of the ihai, and the secular name and age at death are inscribed on the back.

There are regional differences. If you already have an ancestral ihai, we can create a new one with the same layout.
