The Hmong (Miao) people are an ethnic minority group living in the mountainous regions of southwestern China, northern Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand.

Each region and tribe has its own unique characteristics in embroidery, indigo dyeing, and more.

This item is a traditional garment worn by Hmong women, specifically an ornamental sash worn like an apron over a skirt.
It was acquired in Chiang Mai, Thailand, approximately 35 years ago.

The entire piece is meticulously hand-embroidered stitch by stitch, depicting traditional patterns.
Given its aged appearance even at the time of acquisition, it is estimated to be around 50 years old.

Nowadays, these pieces are often cut up and framed, or used as components for bags and other items, making it difficult to find them in their complete form.

This is a highly rare and valuable item.

As it is an antique textile, there are some minor stains and discoloration. The pink areas show some fading due to sun exposure.
