We have been continuously cultivating and saving seeds for 13 years using natural farming methods.
Please note that some green rice, another type of ancient rice, is mixed in, which is why we are offering it at a lower price.
Due to field conditions, we have scaled back our purple black rice cultivation this year, resulting in a surplus of seed paddy. Therefore, we are offering it at a great value in 1kg units.
Also, you may notice that the black color in the photos appears lighter. This is because high summer temperatures tend to result in lighter coloration. We cultivate this rice on Awaji Island, and recent heatwaves have led to a tendency for lighter coloring. Therefore, cultivation in areas that are slightly cooler in the summer, such as mountainous regions, will result in a deeper color.
Furthermore, we do not perform selection processes such as saltwater selection.
Glutinous rice, especially this purple black rice, has a very low specific gravity, so even when selecting with fresh water, a few tenths will float. Please understand. I always select using only fresh water, discarding about 30-40% for bird feed and other uses.
