☆A small pillar clock from Seikosha, manufactured around the early Showa period.
☆Seikosha (now Seiko), founded in 1892, is the oldest existing clock manufacturing company in Japan.
Various types of clocks were produced throughout its long history.
This pillar clock is a small type also known as a zashiki-dokei (parlor clock), and is said to be the most popular type among them.
Despite its small size, it has a very neat and complete design, with elaborately decorated hour and minute hands, a three-dimensional celluloid dial, and gold lettering on the glass window of the pendulum chamber, embodying the retro-modern atmosphere of Seikosha from the late Taisho to early Showa periods.
The movement (mechanism) of this clock has the pendulum rod's axis slightly to the right of the center, so when the pendulum is hung, the pendulum bob will be slightly to the right of the center.
This is proof that the movement has been preserved in its original state without being replaced.

The chime strikes the number of the hour at the top of the hour (0 minutes). For its size, it has a deep, resonant gong-gong sound with a pleasant lingering tone.

There are scratches due to age on various parts, and signs of touch-up on the dial where the numbers and markers have faded, but there are no noticeable large scratches, cracks, or chips. Overall, I believe it is in relatively good condition.
