Kyusu Teapot, Sakizu ware [kazu pottery] Mingei, Sea Cucumber Glaze
I purchased this item here, but it turned out to be larger than I expected, so I am listing it for sale. (Purchase price: 7,700 yen)
It has not been used.
The plump, warm shape and the blue and white contrast are also very lovely.
Below is the description from when I purchased it.
Sakatsu ware has been passed down from father to son for over 150 years in Sakatsu, Kurashiki City, and continues to the present day.
In the early Showa period, masters such as Yuzo Kondo, Shoji Hamada, Kanjiro Kawai, Kenkichi Tomimoto, and Bernard Leach visited the kiln and provided guidance in pottery making, establishing the current style of Sakatsu ware as simple, healthy, and elegant folk craft pottery, which is still carried on today.
