Kisen (Arita ware brand), Chako-shi (Kensui)

13.20 $
Description
A tea caddy with blue and white floral decorations.

This is a Chakoboshi (Kensui) by Kisen, a brand of Arita ware.

Kisen is an original brand produced by Shohido Honten, an Arita ware trading company founded in 1948.

It is a tool used when brewing Japanese tea to discard the used tea leaves remaining in the teapot or the hot water used to warm the teacups.

The traditional Somenishiki technique is used, featuring vibrant blue with green, purple, and gold coloring. It is characterized by its gorgeous designs, such as arabesque and sarasa patterns.

The lid has holes, designed to prevent the contents from being seen while allowing moisture to drain smoothly.

The design reproduces the Ko-Imari style of the Edo period for modern times and is popular as a gift or for collection.
