Kyoto Kyo-yaki Kiyomizu-yaki Kataguchi Yunashi Yuzamashi Tea Ceremony Utensils Matcha Utensils Japanese Tea Japanese Tableware Sake Ware
This is a katakuchi yureishi (a type of Japanese ceramic pitcher, often used for cooling sake or tea) purchased at a Kiyomizu-yaki pottery specialty store located near Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto, on Sannenzaka street.
Although listed as near unused because it was washed once after purchase, it is actually unused.
Sannenzaka is considered the birthplace of Kiyomizu-yaki pottery.
This katakuchi yureishi has a soft texture, with reddish clay covered in white glaze, and features natural variations like hiiro (reddish hues) and iron spots that appear during firing.
There is a mark on the bottom, but even the shop staff could not identify the artist.
This katakuchi yureishi is easy to use for everyday purposes, serving wonderfully as a sake vessel for Japanese sake, or as a tea utensil.
According to the shop staff, vessels made from this material are said to mellow hot water and Japanese sake.
Thank you for viewing.
