MOLA Kuna Panama Indians Love Birds Swans Embroidered Applique Folk Art Vintage

Preowned by artist.  In PERFECT LIKE NEW condition. I purchased this piece while traveling in Panama in the early 1980s.  This piece measures 17 1/2 wide by 12 3/4 inches tall and has been in storage in my home in an artwork drawer. NOT FRAMED.  Darker area shown on the back is a shadow.  Vibrant Mola Panama Kuma Indian Textile Folk Art. Stunning multicolored design features two pink hearts with a pair of swans inside each heart.  Expertly crafted using the traditional technique of reverse applique on cotton fabric.  This is part of traditional women's clothing of the Guna people from Panama and parts of Colombia. The intricate needlework exemplifies the skilled artistry of the Kuna indigenous community, known for their distinctive folk-art styles.
